Golden Snail, 2026

Golden Snail (2026) digital animation, 12 min, 3D on circular screen

Jakarta's snail-shaped Keong Emas Theatre is Indonesia's first IMAX cinema and the largest screen in the world until 1991, according to the Guiness Book of World Records. The building was inspired by an old folk tale, but also stood for state of the art technology and national progress. Fittingly, the film's narrative structure follows the shape of a snail's shell, spiraling inward and then outward again. "Golden Snail" is a new edit and immersive 3D installation of Husain's original IMAX film "Garden of the Legend of the Golden Snail" from 2019.
