From the lines Oskar Schlemmer drew in his 1925 essay Man and Art Figure, through a 1969 16mm film of his choreographies, to that film's erosion by time until only pink remains, Pink Schlemmer layers choreography upon choreography upon choreography. The result bends the Bauhaus's utopian imagination toward something more speculative and inclusive. Where Schlemmer calculated proportion and geometry on a biological body stripped of attributes, here the bodies are hybrid and non-European, their gestures queer, and the classical Indian dance form Kathak meets Bauhaus geometry with its own.
